Butterflies

Feb. 2021

While brainstorming ideas with Paulina, she told me how much she liked the butterfly scene from the animated film, “Fantasia 2000”. I used this as inspiration for our photoshoot, and started planning on how to incorporate Paulina in a beautiful way.

I knew I wanted real props to represent the butterflies, so I cut varies sizes of triangles out of white paper. We tossed them up in the air so that I could capture random positions/orientations of all the triangles.

I set up pink accent lighting inside and cyan flood lighting outside to create a vibrant, stylized mood and push the ethereal tone for this photoshoot. We also had a fog machine inside the room to soften the lighting overall.

I wanted Paulina to give a dynamic pose displaying grace and movement, so I had her twirl several times until we got the best shot. Even so, I ended up combining a few different moments to create the perfect pose and flow from her dress.
