Night Slayer

“Night Slayer” is one of a six part cyberpunk series of photos I created in collaboration with my friend Paulina.
We began with a brainstorm session to figure out the cyberpunk style, character, setting, mood, and actions. We were both thrilled at the idea of making this project darker and grittier than anything we've done before.

I needed to figure out Paulina’s cyberpunk character before anything else, so I begin crafting, upcycling, and modifying thrifted materials to piece together all the details for a futuristic techwear inspired look.
Once we got Paulina in character, we had the photoshoot in my bedroom. I set up a white backdrop with vibrant colored backlighting, a large soft box to the side, and made adjustments based on the pose we were capturing.
I knew it would be too difficult to try and find futuristic/robotic looking bad guys on a stock photo website for Paulina to be fighting. So, I bought some Halo Spartan figures from Target, put them in the same lighting conditions, and photographed various poses that made sense for each scene.
