Rays

“Rays” is the first of a six part surreal self-portrait series I started at the beginning of the year. I wanted to get my creativity flowing and see how much was possible with the limitations of my own space and resources I had at home.
To give myself a little direction, I stuck to three different themes for this series: sci-fi, dream, and whimsical.

I found inspiration for these photos by browsing through Pinterest the day of each photoshoot. I gave myself roughly an hour to search through surrealism photography and artwork, and moved forward with the first solid idea I could come up with during that time.
On average, each photoshoot took me a little over an hour to do. I worked by myself, setting up the backdrop, lighting, camera, props, outfit, and posing. Editing each concept took about seven hours.
