While looking for a creative challenge, I decided to try out my first ever underwater photoshoot! Tabitha was brave enough to give this a shot with me, and the results turned out amazing! I’m just glad my camera survived with my DIY underwater housing for it.

Our goal was at the very least to capture one great photo during this photoshoot. We managed to get a couple more!
I began by designing and hand making this cross wrap top for Tabitha to wear in the photoshoot. I used craft store materials for the top, and real sea shells for the necklace.
An underwater photoshoot sounds fun and exciting, but we quickly discovered it’s extremely challenging and stressful. It’s difficult to control your pose underwater, and it was hard to get enough light on Tabitha. We also couldn’t hold our breath for very long, and I couldn’t give her any direction until we were both above water.
Quality underwater camera housings are surprisingly expensive, and I didn’t have the budget to invest in one at the time. So, my dad and I transformed this trash can into one by adding two glass windows at the bottom, and weighing it down with several bricks. I definitely do not recommend trying this, but it got the job done!
